Gwyneth Paltrow Denies Being Anti-American

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow denies that she ever made any anti-American comments in a recent interview with Diario De Noticias. Gwyneth, 34, who lives in London with husband Chris Martin, was apparently misquoted as telling a Portuguese newspaper, "The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans." Now the actress is said to be devastated over the remarks and even tried to clear the air by talking to People magazine.

"First of all I feel so lucky to be American. I felt so upset to be completely misconstrued and I never, ever would have said that," she told the magazine. She believes that her statements during a press conference in Spain may have been incorrectly translated and even quipped that perhaps she should brush up on her seventh-grade Spanish. Or maybe she should just get a better PR team to spin this kind of stuff for her.
