Film Critic Joel Siegel Dies of Cancer at 63

At the age of 63, Good Morning America film critic Joel Siegel lost his ten year battle to cancer yesterday in New York. "He was a brilliant reviewer and a great reporter. From the time he learned of his cancer, Joel demonstrated a remarkable courage and strength in reporting on his own disease in an effort to educate and help others," said ABC News President David Westin.

Joel was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1997 only days after learning that his new wife, Ena Swansea, was expecting their first child. In 2003, he set out to write a book for his son titled Lessons for Dylan. A while back, Joel spoke to People magazine in an interview about his reason for penning the book. "I think of all the things I want to do with Dylan, and what I'd miss if I wasn't able to do them. One is taking him to his first ball game. I want to be there for that. I want to be sitting next to him when he watches the Marx Brothers in A Night at the Opera." Dylan is one lucky young boy to have had such an amazing father.
