Former American Idol hopeful Katharine McPhee and her beau of more than a year are officially engaged to be married. Nick, 42, recently gifted the singer with a huge sparkler for her left hand and the wedding plans are already in the works. At the tender young age of 23, Katharine plans to marry a man nearly twice that. What are the odds that this Hollywood pairing has any long term potential? The short lived romances of Lance and Ashley or even Matthew and Mandy could certainly give us some insight.

I say go for it Katharine.If it is Love it will be forever.I married my husband when I was 19 he was 43 at the time.That was in 1996.we are still going strong.good luck,and congrats.

lmao @Debbie…my thoughts exactly. im a 24 yr old male and my wife is 37. we love each other dearly. she inspires me and encourages me in ways i never thought was possible and i do the same for her. to jela, its not that much about age any more unless you’re talking about children. its about the maturity level. im against an older person trying to be with a teenager or child but in this case she is neither. i wish them the best and may God bless them and their future family.
