Van Cleef & Arpels Files Suit Against Heidi Klum

From , Former About.com GuideDecember 29, 2007

Follow me on:

Van Cleef & Arpels has filed a lawsuit in NYC against supermodel/designer Heidi Klum. The fine jewelry company is alleging that Heidi may have stolen their clover design for her jewelry line. Van Cleef & Arpels is calling this an issue of copyright infringement and are suing for $25,000.

Why on earth would a massively successful jewelry line need to sue Heidi, or anyone for that matter, for such a measly amount of money? I imagine they're doing it as a matter of principal more than anything. I'm on Team Heidi because unless they have a patent on the clover, they won't have a case.

I wonder how this will turn out, especially since the success of Project Runway. I really think it’s publicity for them!
