After 28 long years of marriage, Mel Gibson's wife Robyn has filed for divorce, according to Us Weekly. She listed the usual "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, but that's rarely ever the truth. Robyn wasted no time securing Britney Spears' former divorce attorney, Laura Wasser.A rep for Mel and Robyn, both 50, released a statement to the press saying: "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so." Married since 1980, they have seven children – Hannah, 28, twins Edward and Christian, 26, William, 24, Louis, 21, Milo, 19, and Thomas, 10.
Rumor has it that these two onetime lovebirds never signed a prenuptial agreement. This could mean that Robyn has the potential to walk away from this marriage with a serious chunk of change. Mel's fortune has been estimated to be somewhere in the vicinity of close to $1 billion. And we all know how California likes to roll when it comes to community property - 50/50 all the way.
