Update: Paula Abdul is definitely not returning to American Idol, according to People.As preparations were being made for American Idol's ninth season, it appeared that Paula Abdul could be leaving the show for good. Back in June, we heard rumors that she was in heated negotiations over her new contract. She even hinted to Dave Letterman that there was a chance she wouldn't return.
Paula's manager, David Sonenberg, told The LA Times, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol. I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that [Idol production companies] haven't stepped up and said what they want to do. She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," he said.
The recent news that Ryan Seacrest signed a three-year, $45 million deal to return as host of the show must be absolutely killing her.

The person on American Idol that makes the most dough is, I believe, Simon Cowell. AI wouldn’t be the same w/o Simon! If Simon was the one leaving, you could kiss AI and it’s success goodbye! Paula? Well, she had the infamous seal-clapping and it was humorous how high she could get as a judge.. High, as in drugs, I mean! She will never make the money that Simon or Ryan makes! She’s not worth it! I think I heard Simon renewed his contract for $80 million for one or two years! Wow. Now that’s a lot of dough!
