Sadly, actor Patrick Swayze is dead at the young age of 57, according to Reuters. In March of 2008, we learned that Patrick was battling pancreatic cancer but that he also had every intention of fighting it. It looks like that heroic fight is over as the cancer claimed his life.
His publicist released the following statement to the press on Monday: "Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."
The three-time Golden Globe nominee will forever be remembered by fans (myself included) for his role as Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing. R.I.P. Patrick Swayze - you will be missed.
