Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is finally opening up about his struggle with alcohol. The actor talked to UK GQ about his darkest days and how he let alcohol nearly ruin everything in his life. The good news? He's been clean and sober for a year and happier than ever."I became so reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me," he told the magazine.
He went on to say: "As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me. I'm actually enjoying the fact I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I'm really pleasant. There's no shame in enjoying the quiet life. And that's been the realization of the past few years for me."
For a guy who shot to fame at the tender age of 11 and could easily have landed himself in rehab, this is a very good sign. Now 21 years old with a hugely successful series of films on his resume, it sounds like things can only go up from here.
