Will Heath Ledger Receive an Oscar Nomination?
Friday July 11, 2008
Word on the street is that Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in Dark Knight could very well earn him an Oscar nomination. Heath died tragically in January and his friends and family continue to mourn his loss. Fellow actor and costar Michael Caine, 75, opened up about him on Friday."I think Heath will surely get a posthumous nomination for an Academy Award. He was incredible, he was amazing. And I think he will get it. It's an incredible performance, just wonderful," he told People.

He deserves it for many other roles in his short life-think of his grieving family and close friends-let this be, a kindness,an honor to one who delved into his work with his soul.heath we will remember you fondly.
I have not seen The Dark Night yet, but I think it is strange and unusual that there is an Oscar ‘buzz’ about Heath Ledger’s performance in it, I can only imagine this is because he is dead.
It would be unheard of for an actor to win an Oscar normally for such a role but seeing that a lot of Heath’s friend are on the voting panel he probably will win.
Think this kind of shows the Oscars up as a complete pile of bull. Here is an article I read today which confirms how fickle the awards process is;
Ledger, who died of an accidental prescription drugs overdose in January of this year, plays The Joker in the film and is expected to receive significant support in the race for the Best Supporting Actor category at the Academy Awards.
Speaking at the film’s premiere on Monday night, Aaron Eckhart, who plays Harvey Dent in the film, told the BBC: “I’m a member of the Academy so I can vote for him.”
Michael Caine, who plays Alfred, added: “So can I.”
Maggie Gyllenhaal, who plays love interest Rachel Dawes, then said: “I’m a member too - the Oscar can only go to Heath.”
dont talk balls u above his performance is unreal. truly deserves it.
Get real! His performacew was really good and I think he deserves it, hats of to Mr. Ledger. The most should be a special mentions or a memorial tribute for him, not an Oscar nomination.
