PerezHilton is claiming that comedian/actor/writer Russell Brand will host the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. The VMAs are set to take place in Los Angeles this September and the gossip is sure to follow. While the latest news about Russell, 33, has yet to be confirmed, it may not be such a bad idea.

He's super popular in the U.K. and even has his own hit radio show out there. Will he be able to garner the kind of wild publicity that Britney Spears brought in for the 2007 VMAs? Probably not, but with Russell's history of unpredictable behavior, anything can happen.

Rumor has it that Heath Ledger's ex, actress Michelle Williams, and film director Spike Jonze are dating. Michelle, 27, and Spike, 38, have allegedly been spending some quality time together near his NYC apartment, according to Star magazine. Spies even report having seen the couple enjoying a smooch or two earlier this month.

Michelle lost her former fiance back in January and she's ready to find love again. Before you criticize her for dating so soon, keep in mind that she and Heath were over well before his accidental overdose. Their three year romance came to a halt in September 2007 when Michelle could no longer handle Heath's unhealthy lifestyle.

She is now raising their daughter Matilda, 3, with the help of friends and family. If the Spike Jonze rumors pan out, it looks like she'll have another set of babysitting hands on deck.

With the Madonna and A-Rod affair chatter cooling down, rumor has it that Matthew Broderick is cheating on his wife Sarah Jessica Parker. I seriously hope that this turns out to be mere gossip because Matthew, Sarah and little James, 5, seemed like such a solid family.

Star magazine is claiming that Matthew indeed cheated on Sarah Jessica with a 25-year-old woman. "While the beloved actress was frantically searching for hubby Matthew Broderick one night earlier this year, he was having sex in the city with a gorgeous redhead half his age," a source told the magazine.

I'm sure we'll be getting a statement from their PR spin doctors within the next day or so completely denying the allegations. Could there be any truth to the rumors after 11 years of marriage?

Heath Ledger's co-star, actor Christian Bale, was arrested and quickly released in London today. The arrest followed assault charges filed by his very own family, according to People. Christian's mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, claimed that he lashed out at them at the U.K. premiere of The Dark Knight.

They gave no further details about the alleged incident. Christian, 34, should be on top of the world right now with his movie raking in nearly $160 million during opening weekend alone. Did the overwhelming success of the film cause him to crack under pressure?
