Kevin Federline has always been in the shadow of his famous wife, singer Britney Spears. His attempts at launching a music and/or modeling career have been dismal at best.
Now it looks like he's trying to re-invent himself with a new and improved image. In an attempt to promote his upcoming rap album, he shaved, cut and washed his greasy hair, and actually donned a suit for an Item magazine photo shoot. Kevin, 28, even had a few moronic, but entertaining things to say to the magazine after the session.
"I should just put a bulls-eye on my back. If I stay home and take care of my wife and kids, then I am a loafer, not a good father. If I try to have a career, nobody thinks I am caring for my family. I can't win."
Kevin thinks he can't win if he stays home or if he tries to have a career? As his record shows, he has made no such attempt at either of these options. I don't know that I've ever seen him so much as hold his son Sean Preston in his arms. I can also attest to the fact that he is most definitely not in the midst of what anyone would call a career. So, what's his third option?
No Free Rides
"It's completely unfair when a child is brought into this world and now he's already looked at like a prince. My kids are going to have to learn what a real job is, what life is. You don't have it easy with me, period. My kids are going to work at Taco Bell, dammit!"
Taco Bell is what he considers to be a real job? Maybe that's because his entire resume reads: Impregnated Shar Jackson and left her towards the end of her second pregnancy, married and impregnated Britney Spears twice, whined on MySpace about his failing career, and did I mention married Britney Spears?
"You'll never see that guy they say cheats or goes partying all the time. If I'm there and I'm out at a club, I am there for a reason. I am not there to mingle with women. All that stuff is done to me. I did that when I was 21."
He did that when he was 21? More like, he did that just a few years ago when he cheated on his then-pregnant girlfriend with Britney. This guy is kidding himself if he thinks anyone is going to believe that his partying days are behind him. I estimate that he has at least another five years of misbehaving before he's ready to grow up.
"I wish people would ask me about my career. Usually it's, 'How's the wife and kids?' Not that I mind, that's my pride and joy. But it would be nice for people to look at me like an artist. The day they judge me as an artist, a CEO, a somebody, not Britney Spears' husband, that's the day I'm looking forward to."
An artist or a CEO? Kevin will always be judged as Britney's husband, because to date, that still remains his greatest accomplishment. The minute he puts out anything that even remotely qualifies as tolerable to the ears, I'll consider calling him an artist. Until then, it's Mr. Britney Spears for this guy.
