Russell Brand to Host the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards

It looks like comedian/actor/writer Russell Brand is set to host the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. The VMAs will take place in Los Angeles this September and the gossip is sure to follow. The latest news about Russell, 33, just might not be such a bad idea. He's super popular in the U.K. and even has his own hit radio show out there. Will he be able to garner the kind of wild publicity that Britney Spears brought in for the 2007 VMAs? Probably not, but with Russell's history of unpredictable behavior, anything can happen.
